Turkish Airlines | SkyLife Magazine

Turkish Airlines is the flag carrier of Turkish air transportation. Its 70 aircraft comprise one of the youngest fleets in Europe. More than ten million passengers a year fly THY’s network of 100 destinations, three-quarters of them international.

‘Skylife’, Turkish Airlines’ in-flight magazine, has added value and colour to the journeys of people traveling to various locations in Turkey and worldwide for more than twenty-seven years.

Based on a foundation of travel, culture, and arts, ‘Skylife’ also covers a wide range of other subjects, from technology to arts and from hobbies to lifestyle and health, all inseparable parts of the magazine’s unique, value-added content.

Trebleseven was commissioned to develop rebrand concepts for ‘Skylife’. The client’s brief was to design a more engaging magazine, less heavy going articles – with more emphasis on destination guides, food, restaurant and hotel reviews.

The content style needed to compliment Turkish values with a modern twist on national heritage, whilst reflecting THY’s brand values of ‘widen your world and ‘delightfully different’, with more focus on international locations. The bilingual format benefits from the use of a diverse grid system, providing layouts that are both clear and dynamic.

We developed key’ongoing’features including ‘Delightfully Different’. An ongoing hotel guide, and have a couple of respected reviewers tour the whole of Turkey giving their honest reviews, based on the airlines’s branding driver of ‘Delightfully Different’. The article would be enhanced by series on watercolour sketches and illustrations throughout the feature.

The ‘50 in 3’ feature – Uniquely, Turkish Airlines flies to 50 countries in just three hours. An on-going series of features focused on destinations within 3 hours. Including an in-depth but concise city guide with the focus on engaging photography and illustration. City destination guides to Istanbul and Barcelona, The Islands of the Aegean Coast, through to Hot air ballooning over Cappadocia were all covered in the magazine’s rebrand design.
